You may be relying on someone else's opinion of another individual to form an opinion of your own. Someone who is new in your social life may be quirky and hard to understand, but their reputation may precede them. Yet what you learn through a friend or acquaintance - even if it is someone you trust - might not be accurate. If that person's opinion is negative, you could just miss out on getting to know a very unique character. You are encouraged to avoid forming an opinion about someone new without taking the time to get to know them.
